This is not an option
You buy clothes from a thrift store. And you’re all like, Baller! Can’t wait to rock this rayon over-sized granny blouse with my riding pants I got for a $1. Hold your horses, Bea Arthur. Did you wash those babies?
ME NEITHER!
But someone’s odor may be locked in those threads and you don’t want a dance party to break out and you realize you smell like literal death.
Trips on washing Thrift finds:
Always consider your washing method before purchasing.
Can you throw it in the wash and it come out the way it was before? Or is dry-cleaning a must to keep this baby intact.
I find a lot of people get rid of clothes simply because they don’t want to pay to get them dry-cleaned. SERIOUSLY.
If you’re buying something that is dry-clean only, and it has the potential for sealed-away stench, weigh the purchase cost with the cost it would take to bring that baby to life. It’s not as exciting finding a wool coat for $1 if it’s not worth the $20 in dry-cleaning fees to get rid of the scent of cigarettes that nailed the coffin of Aunt Belinda.
But some purchases are definitely worth the extra step for upkeep.
Get a steamer!
Steamers are a great way to flush out stenches and melt away wrinkles. Plus they’re a relaxing way to contemplate your station in life.
